Construction on Mockingbird Elementary School began in April of 1964 and the school opened in September 1965 with 192 students. It was the third new elementary school in the Ralston School District.
In 1967, an addition was made to Mockingbird. Six rooms were added in September 1967 and another eight, including a new library, were added in November of the same year.
The school had its largest enrollment in the 1969-1970 school year. In August 1969, there were 677 students enrolled. In July 1970, the census showed 1,080 children between the ages of 5 and 18 living in the Mockingbird attendance area. Our current enrollment is 402.
