Curriculum

Reading:
In reading we use the Storytown series where we will be exposed to a variety of genres. Each week the students will have a set of vocabulary words to go with their weekly story. We will discuss and work on a focus skill to help us comprehension. At the end of the week students will take a weekly test.

Writing:
We will spend the majority of our time on personal narratives.      We will practice this writing daily in the classroom. After our personal narrative unit we will move to poetry.

Math:
Some big topics in 4th grade include place value through the millions, multi-digit subtraction, multi-digit addition, multi-digit multiplication, geometry, fractions and long division.

Nebraska History:
Students will learn about early Nebraska settlers, Native Americans and the history of our state capital.  In April, 4th grade students will enjoy a field trip to Lincoln, Nebraska where they will get a first hand look at all the things they have been taught.

Science:
I will be teaching Science to all 4th grade students.  Each student will be given their own textbook to write notes in and highlight key concepts.  In 4th grade we will cover the scientific process, earth's resources, the solar system and more!  Students will be assigned homework after each lesson.  Please check their assignment notebooks for specific assignment information.

Spelling:
Students will be given their spelling list at the beginning of every week. Students will take their spelling test on Fridays.
