Academic Expectations: It is an expectation that all students participate in class, complete schoolwork and treat themselves and others with respect. It is important that all students learn, let others learn, try their best and have fun at school! Although I do have high expectations for students, I believe every student can meet these expectations as long as they apply themselves to the best of their ability.
Behavior Expectations: In Kindergarten our three main rules are:
Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible
Behavior System: Mockingbird uses a school wide track system. All students begin the day "On Track." As they move throughout the day, they might move up for making positive choices, or down the track for making poor choices. If a student makes a mistake and moves down the track, they always have the chance of making better choices and moving back up! Students will have a planner that they will bring home each day with information about which track they ended the day on.
Students have five different track levels on the Track System:
Track Star – Amazing! Student stands out as making respectful and responsible choices at school!
If they end the day on….
Ahead of the Pack – Student did a great job all day!
On Track - Students begin each day on this track.** - Student had a good day and stayed on track!
Off Track – Student made a few poor choices today.
Way Off Track – Bummer! The student made many poor choices today and lost some school privileges.
- If a student has a “Way Off Track” day I will contact you by phone or by writing a note in your student’s planner.
- In cases where a child makes a big mistake such as hurting a friend or disrespecting an adult, they may be given an office referral to visit Mr. Ferguson in the office.
Daily Planners: Please check your child’s planner daily. Why?
- To stay informed on student behavior - To receive important notes from the teacher
- To receive reminders about school events - To stay informed about student learning
- Thursdays: School and classroom mail will be sent home in your child’s planner. Thursday mail may include lunch menus, school newsletter, classroom updates, student work etc.
Contacting The Teacher:
